Skeeter Phelan (Emma Stone), a misfit Belle university graduates, writing cleaning advice column for his local newspaper. She can not understand why Constantine (Cicely Tyson), the beloved family of the girl was left. Charlotte (Allison Janney), Skeeter sick mother, offering excuses that obviously false.

Skeeter and the ratio of Constantine was much closer than the bond with the mother Skeeter. Among other things, the "Guide" is about an intense emotional attachment of children home whites and blacks, who raised them. These same children as adults, with their own children to raise, maintain waitresses often disdain.

Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) raised 17 white children of Jackson at a time when she lost her own son. Much more sensitive to racial appeals than it seems, any other white woman in Jackson, Skeeter gently lures Aibileen to tell his story for a book she plans to write, to eventually include the stories of other local maids. (A little too obvious that we have an overview of the Library Skeeter, including "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Native Son.")

Although shrouded in anonymity, Skeeter book project is dangerous. The murder of Evers civil rights MedGIS worker who broke the news on TV in the middle of the film, the most obvious example of the stakes race is.

The writer and director, Tate Taylor, a childhood friend of Jackson Stockett positions with only one previous film with distinction and Skeeter Aibileen twins that heroes of the piece. In fact, there third - Aibileen best friend, Jackson, Minny (Octavia Spencer), a waitress, which is hard to suffer fools gladly - occupational hazard, to say the least.
