In "One Day", Sturgess is again recognizable as Dexter, an arrogant young man who stumbles into desperate kind of success as a TV host, a job that requires him to play an even more exaggerated version of his character. This feature is in part what attracted him to this role.
"Dexter has been an interesting - and kind of defects and false needs attention," said Sturgess. "The arrogance comes out of insecurity, and it was just a job, what were the uncertainties."
The film follows Dexter and Emma, who is faced with making friends (and if you have not seen the poster ever seen the movie, they constitute the main attraction as well) after spending a day together with a July 15, 1988. Over the next 20 years, the story hops around to see our star crossed couple from each other, and weave together again when they meet each year to July 15.
